Types of lighting in the home

Decorative lighting
This sort of lighting is used to create a mood in your home. You will find that the light emitted from this kind of source is low and will be reminiscent of candle light or something similar. People use decorative lighting within the home as a feature most often in the form of a floor or table lamp.

Natural lighting
Is as we all know daylight and can have a great effect on the way we feel and will change according to the weather and time of day. Throughout the day your house and the rooms in it will be subject to change according to how the light reaches them. If you have an east facing room it will receive a lot of natural sunlight first thing in the morning, the effect will be a warm orangey feel and this can be further exaggerated by using reds, yellows, light creamy colours as well as orange in fabrics and decorative pieces to make it feel inviting. However, if a room in your home is south facing it is likely to receive light in the evening as the sun sets this will again create a warm orange and yellow feel in a room.

If you need to create a greater amount of light in a room there are few things you can do. Firstly you can use light reflective features such as mirrors and polished furniture to bounce light around the room. Another trick you can use is to keep your windows clean and paint the window sills and frames if possible in brilliant white paint.
