Painting your bedroom

Your bedroom will often be the last place you see at night and the first thing you see in the morning, so it’s pretty important you get the mood just right. Most decorate their bedroom using light and airy colours, which gives the impression of space and makes the bedroom look clean and inviting.

I have gone for a dark khaki colour on the walls and a light grey on the ceiling. This is great in the morning because the walls don’t reflect a great deal of light and at night it provides a calming relaxed atmosphere. The bedroom is also a very personal space so it’s important you find what’s right for you, but I also think you shouldn’t be afraid to experiment; you can afford to be bold.

One tip to remember is that tonal ranges or colours that are the same but slightly different shades will have a much softer appearance, where as colours that are totally different will often have a much more vibrant and stimulating effect, which may not be what you want in a bedroom. I suggest you decorate your bedroom using calming tonal colours to provide a nice relaxed feel.

My last suggestion is to pick paint with low VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) which are harmful toxins and are often found in petrochemical paints. These paints release toxins as they age and can be harmful if you use them in a bedroom. So, if you want to wake up feeling bright and breezy then go for a paint with low levels of VOC or better yet buy Organic paint.

I hope you found the information useful if you have any suggestions, why don’t you post a response.
