Laying Lino

Feb 10th, 2008 | By admin | Category: Latest Blog Posts

So after buying the lino tiles yesterday I decided that if they were going to get laid I shouldn’t wait for by boyfriend to do it. So I ripped up the carpet. Took out all the nails and grip round the edges. As we have wooden floor boards I had to bang some heavy nails in. I then swept all the mess.

At this point I was now getting ready to give up. I remembered why I find DIY so difficult. So I called my boyfriend and told hil that he had to finish it. He came through and gave me some encouragement and advice. He started marking out the tiles so that they fit against the bath and corner. I kept telling him what to do and at this point I felt I should have just continued to do it myself.

He laid two tiles and did a great job of cutting out the shape for the toilet then promptly gave up. I couldn’t bare to leave it unfinished so I poughed on. For a first attempt I did pretty good and it is much better than the horrible carpet that was in their. The room looks much bigger now as the floor was dark before and now it is light, giving the room a lighter more spacious feel.

I need practice and if I did it again I would do some things differently but it was good practice to start on a small room before attempting to do the kitchen.
