If you are buying paint to match a room should take a pillow case shopping with you so you get the right colour. Much in the same way you would take shoes to match a dress.

If you use mirrors in the correct way you can make a room look bigger.

Avoid carpet in a bathroom. I have first hand experience of this, since I laid my lino tiles the bathroom is much fresher.

Wallpaper is no longer old fashioned. You may want to choose one wall to wallpaper, then pick out a colour and paint the remaining walls, it can become a great focal point. A similar effect can be achieved by painting one wall a different shade to the rest.

Pale colours give a feeling of space. Think of it this way, people where black to look slimmer!
