Choosing the right colour is a lot like finding the right outfit to wear!

Firstly look for inspiration use magazines, window displays, the Internet and check out the image gallery Compile a whole load of stuff that you like, save images you have found on-line, mark pages from the magazines even grab things from around the house that you like. It might be a pillow, a article of clothing or a vase.

What does a colour say about you?

Do you want a calming and relaxing environment? Or do you want it to be a vibrant energetic place?
I’m sure you have heard it before but colours say a lot about a person.

Red
Red is closely associated with passion, romance and energy. Apparently this colour can stimulate appetite and conversation, meaning it may be well suited to the kitchen or dining room.
Orange
Orange is energetic and active, paring with a complimentary colour like blue creates a striking combination, a perfect choice for the playroom.
Brown
Brown generally gives the image of taste and sophistication. It is seen as confident, yet calming. This colour works well in the living room.
Green
Green is supposed to promote concentration so would be ideal for an office.
Yellow
Yellow helps to generate the appearance of natural light and brighten up the living space. This can be useful in rooms that don’t get much natural light. Careful with the shade too bold and it will be too over baring.
Blue
Blue or grey is a calming colour. Perfect for the bedroom where you tend to relax and sleep. Steer clear of too much orange and yellow in the bedroom it might make it dificult to get to sleep.
Neutral
Neutral shades - white, gray and black are best when you want low-intensity. Neutral shades are a great tool to help tone down bright colours or to make particular pleeces within a room stand out.
Purple
Purple is a sensuous, romantic, luxurious colour. Could be good for the bedroom, spice things up a little! But use a bluer purple to keep it more restful. Using a redder purple will give a room more energy.
