Choosing colours when designing your home

When you’re designing and decorating your home one of the most difficult tasks is choosing the colours of your rooms. Hopefully some of the suggestions I have made below will help you in your journey to creating your perfect home.

A good way of finding home designs and colours is by looking on home fashion and paint suppliers websites and in magazines. We have quite a few photos and videos here on Padzo, so check them out to get some ideas. You should trust your instincts and bookmark any pages with images you like or you can rip them out of magazines and make a collage of anything that catches your eye.

Once you have twenty or so images you should try and find a theme or direction to take. You can do this by trying to find a trend such as a particular colour you have gone for a couple of times. Another advantage of using this method is that you may find furniture and textures that also appeal to you.
Another way of choosing colours for decorating your home is by looking at your own dress sense. You make decisions every morning when you get dressed in terms of the colours you wear and perhaps the accessories you use; these could be jewellery, cufflinks, ties or bags. All of this can give you an indication as to what colours you feel comfortable with.

Take inspiration from holiday snaps
coloured housesYou can also look at photos of places you have been or think about places you enjoy going on a regular basis. By looking through holiday snaps you might get the inspiration you need. There is one draw back of doing this and that you may be tempted to try and create a feeling you got from holiday and try and create a cheap imitation of a restaurant you once went to on holiday. Avoid this, stick to trying to find a colour that really appeals to you.
